How To Type Fast
how type faster by using a correct technique. Follow this simple guide for typing faster.
Today, I am going to show you how you can improve your typing speed. First of all, you need to make sure that you are typing properly, that is using all fingers on both hands and not just two fingers. If you do not type properly, then your typing speed will always be around 35 words per minute or less whereas a good employable speed is at least 50 words per minute.
The key to improving your typing speed is to ensure you learn how to touch-type, that is not looking at the keys when you type but rather looking at the computer screen or printed material. If you can do this, then you will find that with practice, your typing speed can increase up to at least 80 words per minute. You may have to unlearn bad habits if you are a two-finger typist and often this can take some time but it is worth persevering as once you have gained the touch-typing skill it is something you will retain throughout your life.
You should place your fingers on what is known as the home keys, these are A, S, D, F on the left-hand side of the keyboard and J, K, L on the right hand side. If you feel the F and J keys with both index fingers, you will feel slight ridges. These are designed for you to feel your way on to the keys as a base without the need to look.
Once you can type the home keys without looking, you can then progress to the other keys on the keyboard. Your fingers should always be hovering over the home keys and move up or down depending on which key you need to press. I cannot stress highly enough how important it is for you to learn to type using the recommended typing program.
There are many different shortcuts you can learn using a computer keyboard, but the most time-saving of these is learning how to type correctly.
